Glass Fishing Floats These are glass fishing floats similar to those used many years ago by the Japanese. These are not authentic floats but made to replicate the ones used back then. Japanese would use glass floats in their fishing nets. With the less costly and readily available plastic floats being produced, the use of glass ones became a thing of the past. When they were in use, many of these glass floats would break loose from the nets and float across the ocean. It is hard to believe but these floats are still out there today and wash up occasionally when the tides and winds are correct on the Northwestern coast of the United States.
